Welcome to the BCIAHA
(British Columbia Interior Arabian Horse Association)

The BC Interior Arabian horse Association represents Arabian and part Arabian enthusiasts from all over the beautiful Okanagan Valley, north to Kamloops and area, and east as far as the Kootenays. Our club newsletter "The Flying Carpet" is also published monthly in Saddle Up magazine which is mailed directly to the homes of club members.

Each year we host BC's longest running Arabian show, the Arabian Encampment as well as the only Region 5 Qualifying show in BC at the Interior Provincial Fair grounds (IPE). Our club hosts a Year End Banquet in November each year at the Vernon Lodge where we present the "Horse of the Year" awards.

Our club membership is diverse with members who are actively involved in Endurance & Competitive Trail, Arabian Horse Racing, Arabian Sport Horse and Recreational Riding. Our Youth division is active and enthusiastic with lessons, demos, clinics and field trips done on a regular basis to encourage and inspire the youth members.

UPDATE from Debbie Storey Clinic!
Debbie Storey, from Red Deer, Alberta, was booked for the first weekend Clinic of the Year - April 14/15. The first day was designated primarily as a TRAIL CLINIC. We had 7 Riders who were scored on the elements initially and then worked all morning with Debbie. Everyone came back after lunch for a little more instruction and were then rescored to see if they had improved. Great fun was had by all. There were 2 newcomers in this group.

The PRIVATE FLAT CLASSES began around 2 pm with 10 Riders booked. The lessons continued all through Sunday beginning at 8:00am and ending at 5:30pm. There were 3 newcomers in this group. Everyone was extremely pleased with Debbie's guidance and instruction and have already been requesting that we set up the next Clinic.

As usual the Pot Luck Lunch was a huge success - the participants have taken it upon themselves to become more and more creative with the menu. The weather was very changeable with lots of rain scudding around on Saturday. Fortunately, we were able to move into the barn and shelter from the elements and enjoy the food and camaraderie. Watch for an upcoming notice regarding the next Clinic.
